MASTERS VISIT TO NORWICH - Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 October 2014

MASTERS VISIT TO NORWICH

THURSDAY 9 TO SUNDAY 12 OCTOBER 2014

It’s a city where an unrivalled collection of heritage landmarks, spanning 1,000 years of history, blends beautifully with striking 21st century architecture. A city alive with an inclusive atmosphere, compact enough to make you feel at home in days, but with enough sights, local delights and cultural vibrancy to entertain you for weeks.”

Staying at the Maid’s Head Hotel in the centre of Norwich, an hotel over 800 years old, this visit promises to be an experience worth having.

We plan to visit the jewel in Norfolk’s crown, Holkham Hall; a living treasure house of artistic and architectural history and one of the finest examples of Palladian architecture. The hall is surrounded by 3,000 acres of scenic parkland, home to a large herd of deer and rich in wildlife. The 18th century Walled Gardens are undergoing a project to sensitively restore them to their former glory.

Saturday will see us at Norwich's magnificent Romanesque Cathedral, set in beautiful grounds with spectacular architecture and glass, magnificent art and a fascinating history. After a talk and lunch at Strangers Club, we move on to St Peter’s Mancroft and dine at the Great Hospital.

Travel arrangements will be up to the individual - either by road (the hotel has ample car parking) or by rail from London Liverpool Street to Norwich (approx 2 hours).

The cost of the visit, including three nights’ accommodation, meals, coach transport to the sites to be visited and dinner on the Saturday evening will be in the region of £380 per person. If you would like to take part in the visit please send a non-refundable deposit of £100 per person to the Clerk’s Office by 22 August 2014 (payment details below).
