Dave Griffin

Dave Griffin is a stained glass artist living and working in the Peak District in Derbyshire. He began his study of stained glass through adult education and now has ten years’ experience in designing and making panels. He was awarded the Glaziers’ Company Ashton Hill Award in 2004 and worked on placement with Barley Studios in York and Hardmans in Birmingham. All his work is done to commission, and undertaken in full partnership with the client from exploring initial ideas through to installation.

I specialize in allowing the beauty of mouthblown glass to speak for itself with small amounts of painting, staining and enamelling to enhance the design where necessary. I aim to create panels that are vibrant and alive with light, primarily based on abstract forms derived from nature and the beauty of the curved form. I strive to maintain the highest standards in making and teach introductory courses to ensure that these skills are passed on to future generations of glass artists.
